Today will surely be a full day. My heart is heavy and prayers are with the Peacock family as they lay to rest Beth Peacock. She is mom to two wonderful girls whom I've been lucky to get to know, have in my life and call "friends". Both are very strong, beautiful faithful women who are too young to lay to rest their mom. Not to mention their father who has not only lost his wife but earlier in the month buried his father. My prayers are with them all, may they weather this storm finding comfort in God. He does have a plan.
Tomorrow we will leave for Tennessee for the weekend. No school on Monday! Kate & I will be attending the STIR conference - a youth leadership conference. Our youth group is going and the leaders however we will be driving down separately because Kate will be cheering for the jr. high grant 4 games Saturday morning. Hopefully Andy & Matt can enjoy their time and find something fun to do. Glad Matt is feeling better! Last night was not a good one. Although on the bright side he scored the 1st points for his BB team...however they lost.
Killer headache today had me down for about 3 hours! It's mildly lingering (ugh) hope it just goes away...perhaps with more excederine.
Today was foggy & dreary. Warm enough that the snow is melting :( Now were being left with all the gunk I dislike...MUD!
Well, my head hurts so I'm gonna call it a day. Until tomorrow from Tennessee...

this is probably a jumbled mess of randomness :)
well for starters it's day 3 of the daily blogging. but i've got so many random thoughts & things to share i feel the need to apologize in advance should i lose you along the way. so hang on! as i empty my head ...
REPLACEMENTS... now i've been thinking, most things in life have replacement parts, are replaceable and/or come with a warranty. (notice i said things) but what about people? divorce has allowed us to replace one spouse with another. when a pet passes we sometimes get a new, replacement pet, if you will. technology has allowed some of our parts to be surgically replaced...and i'm talking major parts! if you think about it, as sad as it may be sometimes our friends and relationships are also replaced.
now, you know i'm a Christian and love my God! He is in total control! but i am human and often find myself wondering what He's up to! what His plan is. why He has chosen to put certain people in place in my life. i think they're the "replacements". sometimes it's easy to figure out who's been replaced. at other times it takes awhile to see & figure out who this person is going "in" for. (sports analogy)
with this in mind i also find my self wondering who i am replacing in someones life? with that i am reminded to try & be the best me that i can. God does have a plan and someday i hope to get to talk to Him about it.
BLESSINGS...silly facebook! oh how i love you. (sad but true) i love how i get to reconnect with so many people who have been a part of my life. from childhood friends, neighbors, family, college friends, former colleagues, and even the random people that have "teamed" up for silly on-line gaming. i enjoy seeing, reading and staying up on everyone. i love that kids i had in class have befriended me and share their gown up years with me. i love that i've been able to reconnect with cousins that i hadn't seen or had a relationship with in years. what an awesome opportunity to share, talk, visit, pray for/with so many people. silly to think a computer social site could be a blessing...but i do think that for many it is.
TODAY... andy, "do you think it would be possible for you to have something ready for supper tonight?" lol me, "sure, no problem" hahahahaha silly boy! with that today i will continue to "tame the shrew" i call laundry & prepare a delish dish for my family! i better make it good because i'll be eating it tomorrow for breakfast & lunch. the sun is shining in swayzee! but there's still quite a chill in the air. I was blessed this morning to another fuss free start & good 'chat' conversations with doretta & nancy. thanks ladies for an enjoyable chat. i'm praying today for safe travels for lowell & doretta, my nephew, bip, and safety on the road for andy and peace for my kids in school also for all those affected by the tragedy in haiti, my dear friends linsie & abby and the peacock family and for my mom. and a ton others. is it me? or does anyone else talk out loud to God through out the day? thanking Him for a blessing? requesting His presence, or lifting up a prayer? needless to say i talk a lot! but if you know me this should come as now surprise. :) tonight's only! activity is matts basketball practice. i hope andy & the kids can enjoy their time together as i will be a the "chuck".
BOOKS... you know the old saying beggers can't be choosers? well years ago i "begged" (not really) my friend marsha to suggest a book to get me into reading. she suggested fine things by daniell steele and it was a good one. it did it's job...kind of. having spent the last 4 years working in the jr. high as an instructional aide i took it upon myself to read books that i thought would be interesting to a jr. high girl and easier to comprehend for those who might have a reading disability. needless to say the genre i typically am attracted to is teen stuff ...i know, grow up already. well, joan bauer has become an author i enjoy reading. as my daughter would say her books are "short" (a characteristic that kate deems unworthy of reading) i would say her books are enjoyable & to the point. enjoyable even if you're my age, younger or older. so if you're looking for a good wholesome story that's a quick read i recommend the following joan bauer books: hope was here, best foot forward and rules of the road. read the last two back to back. they follow the same character.
well readers of my blog...thanks for stopping by, i do appreciate hearing from you & now i must be off to "prepare something for supper" :) ....this could take awhile.
until tomorrow...

1/13/2010
Day 2 kinda...officially day 1 but go figure, I'm playing catch up. The morning got off to a good start! Gotta like when that happens. It was almost harmonious! Kids off to school without fuss. Kate being a typical pre-menstrual teen girl ugh and me being the chauffeur. Everyone was on time and I do believe BEFORE the bell which it was pointed out to me was the preferred arrival time. (whatever) I've multi-tasked very well this morning. Wash is going, clothes are getting folded - now if only the wearer's of those clothes will PUT THEM AWAY! and I was able to enjoy Ellen all the while getting things done. I also took the time to write my dad a letter. It's funny, I totally thought I knew what all I wanted to say, yet as I began writing the feelings & words came out different than I had anticipated. With so many deaths over the course of the last month you can't help but be reflective on relationships. I'm sure the one with my father would be one in need of repair however I don't know that I have the tools to fix it. It's been broke for about 30 years...I have to wonder if they even make the parts needed. It was good though to get out what I needed to...now to get it into the mail.
Over all the day was ...well, uneventful. But! that's ok with me. I feel good about what got done both domestically & emotionally. Work was slower tonight, typical Wednesday but so enjoyable. I was with a good group of employees & customers. Sometimes I forget I'm at work. (sigh...how nice!) Kate had a game tonight, she said the girls won v.MG.
Now as the night draws to a close I would like to thank my Father above for blessing me so. For loving me always. For knowing me ...the good, bad & ugly and still wanting me more & more. I hope I can be pleasing to Him. Good night & sleep tight

Let the journaling begin...
So I'd say around 15 years ago I was introduced to Emma Ruth Anderson, my husbands grandmother. What a lady. There were several things I admired about her but one of the things she did that I thought was so neat was to journal. She did this just about every day. When she passed away her journals were left in her house, which we purchased and I began to read through them. Wow what a fun trip through time. I didn't start at the beginning rather I started on dates that I knew to be special ie: the birth of my children, holidays etc.... What a joy it was to read and remember those days. In a conversation with my mother-in-law she mentioned that she took my advice and began reading her mothers journals. The journals began in 1976 and she was on 1978. I can't wait to start reading them for myself from start to finish.
Anyway, this made me realize just one of the reasons I enjoy blogging, journaling for the 21st century. I hope to put together a little something daily if possible. Whether it be insight, feelings, memories, recipes, opinion, or just highlights from my day I want to get it all down so that I'll remember. So that my children will know me that much more. I'm sure that all I journal won't be all that interesting but perhaps someday they'll put a smile on someones face and a fond memory will come to mind. So, here it goes...
1/12/2010 (recap)
Took the kids to school today. Burrr it's cold out! I was a pretty peaceful morning ...translation no bickering. lol Ike & PJ seem to be getting along well. I think they've become good friends (our dogs) It's fun to watch them play and run about the house. I didn't meet with Emily, my kids hope kid today. Instead I ran an errand for my mom - peach drink mix from wal-mart- and then attended my Cousin (aunt) Sandy's funeral. Her's was the 5th passing of a family member/friend in the last month. It was kinda weird, the funeral that is. It was SO good to see Joey and meet his wife & kids. His children have his eyes and are beautiful. I wish I knew them. Words can't express how much I miss him. He was like a brother to me growing up who once we were grown up just disappeared. It's been at least 10 years since I'd seen him. I reconnected with Bobby, Lisa & Anne too. Funny how some relationships just take off from where they were while others only become strained over time, distance, and words unspoken. There was a lot of tension at the funeral. How sad.
Work was crazy for about 2 hours tonight. The "buicks" as we affectionaly call them came in like clockwork as did the Evermans, Pipers, Shermans, 4 other regulars, 2 newbies, & a mix at the round table. There's something comforting in seeing the same people week after week. Funny how you don't know all their names yet still feel a connection and miss them when they don't come in. It was a good night.
Andy & the kids went to the OH basketball game. They were defeated by Southwood, and sadly PU lost to OSU at home. Not a good night for the Van Ness' teams. Oh well...My dear friend Michell is called to talk to me. Bip needs our prayers as does the family as they deal with teen angst. (ugh)
Not a bad day as far as days go. Mom was thankful for her drink mix. I was thankful for the washer working properly, seeing long lost family, a fun work place - not to mention the friends & good food, and a loving, chaotic family/home to come home too. Today was a good day.
