June is such a busy busy month. In years past it's always involved dance recitals however this year there was a reprieve in my family from those. Rummage and graduations have taken center stage this year. Having been involved in the schools for 13 years I've gotten to know many of the students and always receive several graduation and open house invitations. What a blessing to be remembered and what a blessing each child has been to my life. As I opened each invite I couldn't help but smile and remember each one and the impact they've had on my life. It's hard not to be excited about our future when I know that the day will come that these kids will be in charge if you will. There is hope. :) I'm excited for their future and hope to keep up with them.
My nephew was one of the many graduates of 2010. What a bittersweet senior year he's had. I so wish I could fully speak my mind on the situation that unfolded but I don't want to do any damage to what all is going on. The good news is ...today is a new day, high school is behind him and he has a future!
My dad came into town for his grandsons graduation and granddaughters wedding. You know the old adage, if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all... well, we both must have put that into play as there was no speaking, no acknowledgment, no hello's or good-byes. Nothing. I'm ok with that on my part, I've accepted my place (lack there of) in his life, but to not speak to his own grandchildren is beyond sad. Such is the relationship with my father.
Looking forward to SUMMER! with the rummage behind me (woo hoo-i hate that event) We'll be enjoying our family tradition this coming weekend at the Indiana/Kentucky All Star games. This year they're super special as Oak Hill's own Courtney Moses will be wearing number 1 and will lead the way for the girls! Super Awesome! This is always a fun day and time with family! VBS is just a week away and the kids and I are both helping with that this year! Then in July we'll get to spend a week away with Andy as he does his northern route. Although he'll be gone during the day we'll at least get to be with him in the evening! During that time we're hoping to visit a water park, hit the Indiana Dune beaches at Lake Michigan, and perhaps head into Chicago to Medieval Times. Who knows what all we'll get to do but the time away & together will be nice and needed. July 11 Sam & Michelle will be home with the baby so we'll get to meet the newest Van Ness! and we'll have the annual Van Ness reunion at Uncle Ralphs. Later that same day we'll head north to take the kids to church camp! I'm so excited for them to attend that this year. What an awesome opportunity to get to be with other Christians and worship the Lord!
School starts way too early (as usual). I hope to seize all the time to enjoy my kids and husband!
Here's to summer!
