ramblings

Van Ness Family reunion today! met Miss Maisey. what a cutie pie. matt was a bit discourage as every time he would look at her she would begin to cry. I think he finally got a smile out of her. had a great turn out. sad we couldn't have stayed longer but had to drive 2:45 N. to take the kids to church camp.

dropped matthew off 1st. he was a late arrival (b/c of reunion) so that wasn't sitting well with him. then kate was all in a hurry for us to leave him behind and get her to her location. i believe i saw tears in his eyes behind the sunglasses. his chin certainly indicated disappointment. unfortunately we were somewhat scurried off as they were serving supper and the counselors wanted to make sure he had something to eat. so w/o seeing his cabin, or anything we said our farewells and were on our way.

kate was next to be dropped off. she couldn't get out of the car soon enough. her and a friend are staying in "campus house" which is housing for 'singles' who are there w/o a larger church group. she's stoked to be a part of that because she likes to make new friends. already we've exchanged 8 text messages...lol. i wish matt could've kept his phone too i would've loved to stay in contact w/ him too. although he'll do much better i'm sure w/o the distraction.

latest read for me Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. what a riot. i can relate to her in so many ways. her writing is very colorful at times but painfully honest i do believe. many of her accounts i find very relate-able.

thought of the day....boy am i gald i don't think i'm better/better off than another. what a burden this must be for some. today i was ....fortunate to be informed of someones take on how i spend my time. given the tone and facial expression of the person commenting it was obvious they felt some sort of....1) entitlement to even comment on the matter & 2) disdain for the choice i make. REALLY...????!!! well after the conversation i came away aware of two things 1) pity for them and the sense of superiority they must feel they have to maintain, perhaps is comes easily and 2) not only can i filter but i do indeed do it! lol i simply walked away and was happy to be done with my part of the conversing. so many other truly interesting people and so little time.

oh, on the way home from the camp drop offs we dined at Jimmy's in N. Webster. it's a one stop multi-purpose sort of hole in the wall joint. 3 doors to choose from for entry. door number 1 - carry out only. door number 2 - tavern side. door number 3 - family side. didn't realize there was a door number 3 until andy was directed that direction for bathroom purposes. lol. so on this fine sunday evening we dropped out kids of at church camp and dined at the local tavern. when i asked the waitress a question she asked if i was passing through. i explained we dropped the kids at church camp to which she exclaimed "Oh, my God! Lord i hope they have a good time" lol. ~ I hope they do too!

and now i'm home, i've blogged, facebooked and now will curl up w/ my book in hope of finishing it tonight so i can begin book #2.
